Finding the right balance
Our boats have been crossing the world since the age of time, with just the energy of the wind, but today our needs have changed and our boats have lost their sails to other energies, mostly fossil fuels.
It has been difficult to balance environmental needs with the needs of market trends. If you’re on one end of the scale, the other side will look either like an ‘Eco sacrifice’ or an 'indulgence in luxury’.
We believe that with the help of biomimicry, it doesn’t have to be a compromise. We can reach an equilibrium.

“Knowing is not enough; we must apply.
Being willing is not enough; we must do." ~ Leonardo da Vinci
Inspired by nature driven by innovation
As we evolve and re-design the system Chandeleur, we developed our first innovation on the core subject: energy !
We therefore imagined SolariSails, a concept of a regenerative solar sail. Combining modern wind propulsion and the integration of the newest generation of photovoltaic film into an integral membrane Sail. “SolariSails” offer a powerful and elegant alternative to fossil energies.

We are currently looking for partners for the first 1:1 scale prototype. If you or your business want to be a part of this 'first of it's kind' innovation don't hesitate to contact us to discuss further.

Technical phase 1
The Biomimicry Institute is embarking towards a ten-year vision to dramatically scale the impact that biomimicry is having on some of the biggest challenges facing the world today. Since our founding 20 years ago, we have worked to spread the practice of looking to the solutions developed by living organisms over billions of years to provide insight and inspiration for effective, efficient, and sustainable innovations and approaches to addressing our own challenges. Now-and with a plan for the next five years-we will systematically work across sectors and disciplines so that the brilliance of our natural world and all living systems is actionable knowledge.
We believe that the large-scale application of lessons from nature’s genius can have an outsized impact on three main areas:
-
The combined challenge of Climate Change & Biodiversity Loss
-
Our Disconnection from Nature
-
The harmful impacts of the “take, make, waste” approach
To ensure that the practice of biomimicry draws from the fullness of human knowledge, the Biomimicry Institute will work over the next five years to partner ethically and equitably with individuals and groups informed by both traditional Indigenous knowledge and academic sciences. Through thoughtful urgency and collaboration, we will reconnect humans with the rest of nature and drive action and change for a sustainable future through innovative, nature-inspired solutions.
